When we were going to get in the car Mom spotted the cricket. It was the biggest cricket anyone had ever seen. It was dark brown. It was almost as big as one of our toads. Mom said it chirped all weekend while we were gone, but it died after we came home. I didn't get to hear it chirp. When I tried to catch him he jumped around and crawled in the grass.
I want to talk about a grasshopper because it's a lot like the cricket. When I came home two days ago Mom and Karina had a grasshopper for me. They found it on a walk they took. When I took my last picture it jumped. It was missing a back leg, I don't know how, but it missed a back leg. It was green but when I took the picture it was black. We let it go in our backyard in some plants. When I was taking it outside it jumped onto the basement steps. It was longer than the cricket I think.
Those black spots in the picture are poop from the cricket. It came out of the jar when we dumped the grasshopper out. Yuck.

First Bug Post
My name is Eli. I am almost eight years old. I like bugs, especially spiders.
This blog is going to be about bugs.
Today's post is all about a moth I found. I caught him on the couch. I saw him nuzzling on the couch. He was just sitting there with his head burrowed in the couch so I caught him and put him in a bug container. The moth looks like he has a tiny horn on his head.
This moth is about an inch long. He is bigger than most moths that I have seen. Most moths that I have seen are 1/4 to 1/2 inch long. His wings look like tree bark. He must hide on trees a lot. He is the same color as dirt, so maybe he hides on dirt too.
